Congratulations to Lionel and his team for a most enjoyable and successful evening. A total of $1054 was raised for the Rotary Foundation, $560 from the BBQ and $494 from the Auction.
Many thanks to John Barton who gave Bruce Borrell $50 to bid on any item and Bruce ended up bidding on two last minute items John had given me to take down on the night! Better luck next year John.

Visit to Waimate Rotary Club Thursday 8th February 5.30 pm.
A visit to the Waimate Club is always an enjoyable and informative evening. In addition for those who can get there early, there is a vocational visit to the new Event Centre which their club contributed $48,000+ towards it's construction. The visit starts at 4.30 pm and from there we will go to the Café on Queen Street for the club meeting and fellowship.
Better Late than Never- CBay
Late last year we were contacted by TDC to say that the long promised plaque to acknowledge our club's $55,000 contribution will finally go ahead.
Bruce Borrell and I had a meeting last Friday with Jacqui Clarke (TDC) and Craig Motley (CBay) to finalise details.
Ashburton Rotary Club Visit- Tuesday 20th March.
This is our club's turn to visit them and the speaker is Scott Brown, US ambassador to New Zealand . I understand that as other clubs are also being invited, they are looking at larger premises for this occasion. Ambassador Brown served in the Senate for three years and sat on various committees including the armed services, Homeland Security and Veterans Care.
Horror Maze 2018.
Once again we have been asked for volunteers to help out with security within the maze and manning the front gate.
Dates are: 16th/17th Feb, 24th Feb, 2nd/3rd March and 9th/10th March. Times 8.30pm-11.30pm and they are
asking for between 7-12 people on each date.
Club Service Meeting
The committee will be meeting after this weeks Rotary to co-ordinate the club's activities and guest speakers for the remainder of the Rotary year and ensure a balanced program of activities for the club.
