Welcome Pumpkins
The rain on Saturday is just what Pumpkins need! We are the Champions. Magic Pumpkins grow well, for the Magic Club.
The use of “hello” is relatively recent. About 1872 is the first recorded use of hello as a greeting. Apparently, it was Thomas Edison who put hello into common use, as a recommended way to answer the telephone. Sir Alexander Graham Bell did not favour the use of “hello”. He used “Ahoy” (as used on ships) and was quite adamant “ahoy” was the correct way to say “hello” on his invention. New technology resulted in the use of “hello” becoming a common way to greet people. Not so sure about “Welcome pumpkins.” Maybe in 100 years that will be attributed to President Hugh of Timaru Rotary trying to make a Rotary Bulletin interesting, a way back in 2021 when people were depressed, by a virus known as Covid-19.

Christmas Treats For Family Works 'Christmas Angels' Hamper.
Members are asked to bring a couple of Christmas treats for the 'Christmas Angels' hampers to our Rotary tea meeting this week and give them to Julie Dockrill.

Partners Night - mark the date (Tuesday 14th December) in your calendar NOW.
It will be at the Shearers Quarters, Seadown.
The cost is $45.00 per person - a 2-course meal (Main & Dessert).
We will gather from 6 pm for drinks and social time, with an official start time of 6.45 pm, mains served at 7 pm (approx. meal time).
Anyone who doesn't wish to drive on the night should contact Cheryl on (0275) 403 141 or click here to email (and she will coordinate carpooling).
Everyone needs to go into the Xmas notification booking system (click here...) with an RSVP either yes or no BY THIS FRIDAY (3rd December) - along with advising numbers attending (& any dietary requirements) if 'Yes.'

The Socials Committee is holding a "Friday At 5" get together at 'Monteiths on the Bay Hill' on 3rd December.
There is no need to confirm your attendance, just turn up if you are able, for about an hour.
'Family Works' Food Bank Donations (Only 2 more weeks).
Don't forget to bring a non-perishable item along each week (only 2 more meetings to do so - this week & 7th December) for donating to 'Family Work' Food Bank to go in the 'Christmas Food Parcels' they will be giving out.

Remember this is "your" bulletin and so please email information to me on what your committee is doing (or planning) so everyone can be aware of it.
Lack of the above will mean the bulletin is not advising the members of what is happening in the club & particapation will be down.

"One day I was ploughing my field and the tractor turned over and pinned me underneath. That pig ran for help. He saved my life". "Oh, that's how he lost his leg?" the neighbour drawled. "No. One night my wife and I were sound asleep and the house caught on fire. That pig woke us up. He saved our lives!" "So that's how he lost his leg", stated the neighbour. "No, that wasn't it" Mike affirmed. Exasperated, the neighbour demanded "Then how did he lose his leg?" and Mike replied, "When you have a pig that good, you don't eat him all at once!
