Wow, what a privilege it was to get a tour of the new Fraser Park multi-purpose facility last week, before our meeting. There is still some work to complete and funds to raise, but we gained an insight into how it will benefit our community in so many ways, not just Rugby. Unfortunately, the turf is not quite ready for playing on yet, but we did get to walk on and check it out. Good to know there is a Conference facility available to cater up to approx. 250 people, as well.
We had a great turnout of members, along with families, as we acknowledged a $30,000.00 donation made by the Rotary Club of Timaru Charitable Trust, via funds from the Bill Mackay bequest, to the Fraser Park Trust.
The Hot Dog Van was in action at a Soccer tournament last weekend, this was a first for us and also the tournament organisers. A big “THANK YOU” to Jess Wooffindin, Jenny & Basil Ensor, Gilly Oppenheim, Jim Garden, Bev Slooten, John Rushton, who were joined by me, for a full day roster. Our next outing will be at the SC Horsepower Rally, on Sept 28th & 29th. We have a few gaps on the roster, so if you can help, please enter your name, or let Jess know so she can.
The Christmas Parade Trust has met and wishes to advise the date for the Xmas Parade this year will be December 1st, this is the same day as the Rose Festival again, so we will need as many volunteers in the various roles as we can get. At this stage, I am notifying early so you can mark the calendar – more details will follow in due course.
Breaking news just notified – the current owner of the Santa sleigh that our Timaru parade has the use of each year, has notified he is selling it and looking for a new owner. We would dearly love to keep this in our local area so we can continue to utilize it, but the Parade Trust is not currently able to purchase it. If you, or someone you know can assist with purchase in any way, please contact either Jess Wooffindin or myself.
Catch up again soon.
