We welcomed Allen Forrester to our last meeting as Speaker. Allen shared an insight to his life growing up on a farm in Eastern Transvaal, close to the Kruger National Park, in South Africa, attending Boarding school in Pretoria, and his working life, including the ownership of three 'Brickfields' (a field or other open site where bricks are made) among other things. Allen is enjoying living in Timaru and being able to interact with his daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren, who are already settled here.
Our Hot Dog Van was back in action last Friday evening at the YMCA Youth “Showcase on Sophia” street Concert. Thanks to Jess Wooffindin, Jenny & Basil Ensor & Andrea Lord, then again on Sunday at the Kyle Park Traction Engine Museum 60th Anniversary celebrations, thanks again to Jess Wooffindin, John Rushton, Andrea Lord, Tony Henderson, Jenny & Basil Ensor & myself, and also Robyn Baldwin, who makes sure we have a ready supply of folded serviettes in store. It’s always great to be out in the community, so if you know of any events, please let Jess know.
Our next club meeting will be held Tuesday 10th June at the Timaru Town & Country Club 5:30pm onwards, as usual.
Catch up again soon,
Lynette
