Our meeting last week was the 1st part of the 98th Annual General Meeting of our club, followed by a Club Forum. (Notes from both will appear further down in this newsletter).
We also welcomed Gavin Green, visiting Rotarian from the Howick Rotary Club.
The weekend had been a busy one with the Hot Dog Van in action at the CAMS (Classic Motorcycle Meeting) at Levels racetrack on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Thanks to Jess Wooffindin, Jenny & Basil Ensor, Judy Dolman, Lionel Wilson, John Rushton, Gary Rushworth, Andrea Lord, Gilly Oppenheim, Jim Garden, who, along with me, covered the duties, had some fun, and met some very interesting people whilst successfully raising funds. Well done and THANKS everyone.
Thank you also to those who have volunteered their time again to work in the Van this Sunday (1st Dec) at the Rose Festival,- Jess Wooffindin, Jenny & Basil Ensor, Andrea Lord, Jim Garden, Julie Dockrill and Judy Dolman, it is very much appreciated and makes it easier when we have a good number of people (members, current, past, present and families,) willing to share their time.
The Santa Parade also takes place this Sunday (1st Dec) and a HUGE THANKS to Greg & Melissa Sugrue, Ian & Shirley Behrnes, Lance Wensley, Marg Cochrane, Shayne Broughton, Andy & Emma Walton-Woodings, Tony Henderson & Stephen Don, Lionel & Blair Wilson, & Basil Ensor, who will carry out Road Marshalling and Health and Safety duties.
Jenny & Basil Ensor, friends Brian & Dianne Thin, along with Tony Henderson & his grandsons, John Rushton, Lionel & me, Jess Wooffindin, Robin Peterson, also helped with collection for “Toot for Tucker”, which assisted the collection of 178 boxes for distribution to the Foodbanks.
We have received confirmation that Emily Stuart has been accepted to attend the Science & Technology Forum in Auckland in January, which is great. Our club will sponsor half the course fees for Emily to attend.
This was our last formal club meeting for 2024, with our Christmas dinner to be held at Austin92 in Temuka on December 10th.
Our first formal meeting for 2025 will be Tuesday 11th February, but a “Return to Rotary” BBQ will be held at Jenny & Basil Ensor’s home, Tuesday 28th January.
Best Wishes to you all, for safe travel and happy holidays.
