Happy New Year to you all. I hope 2018 brings you all good health and happiness.
Bulletin
I would like to welcome Stephen Don as our new bulletin editor.
Wetlands
Some of our cyclists visited Wetlands on Thursday 4th January and kindly watered some of our trees. On Friday 5th January it rained...Heavily.
Jacks Point Lighthouse
Janet and I went to see the new Rotary plaque that Bruce Borrell organised. I recommend a visit. It's a lovely walk from the bottom of Ellis Road along the cliff with fantastic views.

Bulletin Changes
To All Club Members,
The club has changes to its weekly News Letter (Club Bulletin).
After many fine News Letters and about 8 years editing our weekly communication tool, Gilly has given up editing the club Bulletin at Christmas.
Stephen Don has agreed to put the Bulletin together with help from club members.
Stephen will not be hunting you for information or stories to place in the News Letter, I will and you don’t want me hunting you, believe me!
At a meeting with Stephen in early January, President Peter agreed that a new task has been added to Responsibilities
Of both Club Chairpersons and Directors to provide Stephen on an ongoing basis, information on upcoming activities and
reporting to him on development of projects and actions of the club, this includes photo’s as well, and many of them.
As Media chair, I will be hunting you for snippets and start the ball rolling dates of the hot dog van are needed by everyone, the Rock and Hop, Winchester swap meet, the Fairlie show and the start of the Rugby season dates are needed to be displayed on the Bulletin.
President Peter also wants a half time report on activities so far this year from Committee chairs to go into the Bulletin, Stephen will be pleased to hear from you soon than later.

Social Committee Half Time Report
The two big efforts from the social committee in the first half were Peters induction and the club’s 90th celebrations in November. The latter was a very successful evening attended by 90 present and past Rotarians , including the DG and his partner and 22 past presidents. Keith gave a power point presentation highlighting the club’s achievements and each past president described one notable achievement in their year of office.

NEW NRG ARRIVAL.
Congratulations to Trish (of "Next Rotary Generation") and Dan on the arrival of their wee girl (Ava Isobel) on the 23rd December.
All went well and mum and baby are doing great.
Big Sister Niamh is very happy with the new arrival.
PROPOSAL TO ESTABLISH A CENTENNIAL FUND
Purpose:
Fund a gift to the community we have served and who have supported this club over the past 100 years.
Type of Gift
Maybe permanent sculpture
Scholarship of some kind
Value of Fund Target
Depends on the project
How would the fund be achieved
The Club could set aside $5,000 per year
A further $5,000 could be raised with a special fundraising event each year
With compounding interest over $100,000 would be available for a worthwhile gift.
$100,000 equates to $1,000 for each year our club has served the community.
