Guest Speaker
Anne Carnie spoke on her recent Rotary Exchange trip to Sweden. She obviously had a great time even if the railway system did conspire against her. We also had a charming presentation by Astrid Olsson, an exchange student from Sweden who was accompanied by her host, Alistair Millar from the Temuka/Geraldine club.

Melbourne Cup Day.
A great turn out to see the race at the TTCC with some beautiful hats on display. Due to the generosity of our winners, Rotary Foundation made $270 for Polio Eradication. Thank you all very much.
Tree Planting Initiative: Saturday 18th November 9.30 am.
Due to the majority of volunteers (16) only being able to help on Saturday, Gary Foster at the T.D.C and I agree that we can manage to complete the planting on the one day. Please meet in the car park by 9.30 am where we will be met by Peter Thompson, the horticultural officer of the T.D.C. As the car park is very small we should consider pooling cars. Please bring a spade and sensible shoes.
Projects
The board unanimously passed a proposal that the club donate $5000 to the Fred Hollows Foundation for between 150-200 cataract operations. It was also agreed that this would be a suitable project to link to the Bill McKay Bequest.

Obikwa Merlot Shiraz 2015. "This is a red wine from South Africa. It has a squiggly animal design on the front. It smells like wine. Sort of sour. It tastes weird. It cost ten bucks so I'm not going to buy it again. Sip with some food that tastes better"
