 President Lynette's Message

Hi Everyone,

It was lovely to catch-up with those who attended our “Rotary Welcome back” BBQ where we enjoyed a lovely evening, and we really appreciate the generosity of Jenny & Basil Ensor for hosting us all and making their home and grounds available once again.  THANK YOU!!!

It is with much sadness that we learn of the recent passing of Past Member, Margaret Perry.  Our thoughts are with the Perry family at this time.

Last weekend Lionel & I attended the unveiling of the “Peace Pole” erected by Temuka-Geraldine Rotarians in the Geraldine Domain, if you are passing, check it out (on the corner behind the playground). This Saturday, 10am, they will be unveiling the one at Temuka, on SH1 opposite Vetlife, everyone is welcome. A lovely initiative.

Thank you to Greg Sugrue, Jim Garden, Dave Henderson, Lionel Wilson, Lance Wensley, Stephen Don, John Rushton who joined me, (and Andrea Lord who provided us with a “yummy” morning tea) on our recent “pre-prep working bee” at the Park Centre, with all fences now water-blasted and scraped ready for the District 9999 “weekend of connection” in Timaru, to be held 22nd & 23rd February.  (Have you registered yet?)

Have you been up the Bay Hill in the past week? If so, you will have noticed The Wishing well, belonging to our club, is now looking fantastic, resplendent in its new “Rotary Blue” colour, thanks to the amazing work of the team at Blastcraft.
Signwriting will be completed soon.  A HUGE THANKS to John Rushton and especially Gavin Green (member of Howick Rotary club, now living in Timaru) for their work in getting this refurbishment completed (and the team from the “Wood crew” and Rushton Architects who assisted with “lifting power”.

The next couple of weeks will see our Hot Dog Van in action at the Tennis and the Museum Retro Rock events.  Thanks to those who have filled the roster for a shift or two, If you think you can help, please check the roster or let Jess know.

Catch up again soon,

Lynette
