Thanks to King Street Motors for carrying out a Warrant of Fitness inspection of the Hot Dog Caravan at no cost to the Club, and then carrying out some maintenance work, again at no cost to the Club. What great support of our efforts for the community.

Greetings,
It was a fun night at our annual quiz night with the Timaru Altrusa members and partners from both groups.
This event has a collaborative format which enhances the fellowship and camaraderie for us all.
The goals for their organisation are not too dissimilar to ours.
We wish President Donna McColl all the best to her and the members of the Altrusa Club for the year.
They have a fundraising dinner on October 2, ‘Our Big Fat Greek Dinner’ Please give it some thought.
Our speaker next week is Martin Kane talking about Electric cars.
It was appropriate to read the article on Jackson Minnear from Geraldine, representing Jacqui Dean, who took part in Youth Parliament last month.
This was a 2-day event in Parliament where he participated in mock parliamentary debates and speeches.
The topic for his speech was ‘Regaining Prosperity for New Zealand from Rare Earth Minerals and Nuclear Energy.’
A copy of his speech is in the Courier 22 August 2019 on page 14 along with an article of his time in Parliament.

Pathway has been helping people to make a fresh start in life since 1997. It runs three social enterprises to support it's ongoing work to assist needy people to find work and accommodation, it also gives people a fresh start after being released from prison.

Altrusa/Rotary Annual Quiz Night.
Pictured is the winning team on Tuesday night of David and Raewyn Hutton(of Altrusa) with Jess & Tony.
A fun night was had by all with 40 brain-teasing questions from the two quiz masters.

All Members should have received by now an email Stephen sent out a couple of weeks ago with a list of Rotary apparel to select from and a link to the order form to be filled out.
As mentioned in the email the club has decided that we would like members when working in public to be easily identified as Rotarians (so the club will provide a T-shirt- at no cost to you (valued at $20.00), if you choose to order any of the other clothing option(s) on the list instead of the T-shirt the club will pay $20.00 toward the cost. If you order a free T-Shirt you can order other additional items at your cost at the prices listed).

Timaru Courthouse & Police Station Vocational Visit 24th September.
Our meeting for Tuesday 24th September will be a 'Vocational Visit' to the 'Timaru Courthouse' and 'Police Station', Crown Prosecutor Andrew McCrae and Senior Sergeant Dylan Murray (Rotary DGE) will give us a guided tour.
Andrew will be our guide at the courthouse and after which, Dylan will show us around the Police Station. This is a 4.30pm start as the courthouse closes at 5.15pm. After the tour, we have booked the evening meal ($20.00 pp) at the Punjab restaurant just two minutes walk away at 44 Stafford Street.

Polio Eradication Fundraiser Movie.
"Ride Like a Girl" is the story of Michelle Payne, who in 2015, was the first woman jockey to win the Melbourne Cup on her 100-1 outsider mount, Prince of Penzance.
Doug Weir was the trainer and he hired Michelle to ride Prince of Penzance.
This is being hosted by the Waimate and Oamaru Clubs on 18 October in Waimate.
