Graham Taylor gave us a real feeling on how it felt working underground in the 1960's during the construction of the Manapouri Dam.
It was hard to imagine the noise, dust and danger he faced on a daily basis and the sobering fact that 16 workers died, some of whom he knew.

Our club received an invitation to this event as we had had made a considerable contribution. People present were staggered by some of the statistics.
Here are a few.
- Eighteen months from start to go for the first patient.
- The budget of $2.7 million was surpassed and closed off at $3.2 million.
- $1.1 million was pledged on the first day.
- In the last year 3665 people have had a scan with a total of 15,750 for the five years.
- It was estimated that since having the scanner in Timaru five million kilometres of travel have been saved!

St JOHN NATIONAL APPEAL WEEK.
Our club was approached to assist with this annual fundraising event which we did by manning a table in shifts from 9.00am-6.00pm at Timaru New World so a big thank you to Lisa, Robin, Tony, Kelsie, Russell D and Robyn.
