 President Lynette's Message

Hi Everyone,

Our Guest Speaker this week was PDG Dave Preston, who shared an insight into his role as D9999 representative on the Rotary International Council of Resolutions and Council of Legislation, and his recent experience of attending the latest Council of Legislation meeting in Chicago in April.  This event happens every three years.  Dave explained the difference between Council of Resolutions and Council of Legislation and the “What is it”, which generated some good discussion.  Dave was also joined by his wife Annette, who is the current President of the St Kilda Sunrise Rotary Club in Dunedin, and it was great to welcome them both.

It was noted with sadness that Rotary International President-Elect Mario de Camargo has resigned from his position and will not assume the role as Rotary International President for 2025-26.  The Rotary International Board will meet soon to determine the process to select a new Rotary President for the upcoming year.

We also welcomed Allen Forrester as a potential member of our club.

Tony Henderson advised the “wood stocks” are back up to the amount held this time last year, and that deliveries will be starting soon, this is thanks to the additional supply of pellet wood we are also processing currently, which comes with an added feature of “de-nailing”.  Thank you to the great team of past, present, honorary and non-Rotary members for your dedication to this project every Wednesday morning.

Our club changeover will be held on Tuesday 8th July, at the new Fraser Park complex in Church Street.  Dress code for the evening will be Anything Sports Orientated. $30pp or $40 if you request a dessert.  Further details will be circulated soon.

Our next club meeting will be held Tuesday 24th June at the Timaru Town & Country Club at 5:30pm onwards, as usual. This will be the Club Annual General Meeting also.

We are aware there are a number of our members and wider families who are currently experiencing some challenging Health situations, please know we are thinking of you all with best wishes as you navigate the sometimes “tricky” path in front of you.

Our thoughts and condolences are with Emma and Andy Woodings-Walton with the unexpected loss of Andy’s Dad recently.

Our thoughts and condolences are with Robin Peterson, with the passing of her Husband, Vince, this past week.

Catch up again soon,
Lynette
