It is always great to catch-up with past recipients of funding opportunities from our club and see where their journey has taken them. At our last meeting, we had Josh Earnshaw share his latest achievements, and he is certainly a very busy young man, recently having returned from an “Aspiring Leaders forum”, where he was an Assistant Facilitator, following his attendance initially in 2021 as a delegate. Josh attended the National Science and Technology Forum in Auckland in 2020, then again in 2021 as a Student Advisor, and in 2023 as a Senior Advisor. He will graduate next month from Canterbury University with a Batchelor of Mechanical Engineering and starts employment in Jan 2025. Josh was very appreciative and thankful for the support he has received over the years.
This weekend will be a busy one for those who have volunteered to assist in the Hot Dog Van at the Horsepower Rally at Levels Raceway, thanks to you all, and as it’s a two-day event.
It’s also the Grand opening of the all-new Fraser Park, with the first rugby game being played. It won’t be long before we have the Hot Dog Van back in action at the grounds again.
The Board has approved Peter Jordan's application to join the Rotary Club of Timaru. This is the second notification to club members via the newsletter. If anyone has any comments, please contact Secretary Lionel.

Our next kindling working bee is on Saturday 5th October starting at 9 am and finishing at approximately midday.
We have plenty of boxes of wood to cut into kindling. We need people with tomahawks and some people to fill and stack boxes of the cut kindling.

As always a good morning tea will be provided!

Rotary Club of Waimate Polio Fundraiser
We welcome members from your club to join us in Waimate, Thursday 3 October to raise funds for Polio.
For every ticket sold Rotary will receive $8 which will then become $24 with the addition from the Gates Foundation.
We will be meeting at the Waimate Town and Country Club at 5:30 for 6PM meal if you would like to join us, $25 for the meal. We would need to know numbers by Tuesday midday for a meal.

Creative Corner is a community-run preschool with special connections to our Club - Grandies and children currently attend, and many have done in the past.
It's time to dust of the glad rags, find some lipstick, and support this great wee preschool to fundraise for a new playground and help keep fees down.
