President Peter's Message

GUEST SPEAKER
Bruce Small gave us a wonderfully smooth relaxed and humorous talk full of interesting facts. His opinions on several medical issues left us in no doubt as to his passion.
He was quite happy to take questions during his presentation and many afterwards. His comments on diabetes, obesity and a sugar tax were food for thought.
I hope we don't have to wait another 4 years before we hear him again.

NOMINATIONS-DIRECTORS 2018/2020
Congratulations to Sarah Davis, Russell Findlay and Jim Garden on their appointment to the Board.  Many thanks to Robyn Baldwin, Jenny Ensor and Shaun Anderson for their hard work as directors over the last two years.
I hope to be able to announce that we have a nomination for President Elect for 2019/2020 in the new year.

BULLETIN
After six years, this is the last bulletin that Gilly is presenting. Gilly, on behalf of everybody at the club, thank you very much for all your hard work.  Stephen Don has kindly stepped in to help in the short term.

THANKS
As this is the last bulletin for the year, I would like to thank all the committee chairs and their members for all the hard work they have put in since the changeover. Thanks also to Paul Dewsbery and Bruce Borrell who put in an amazing number of hours preparing the Hot Dog Caravan for events. Thanks to all the volunteers who give their time so generously to staff the van and a special thanks to our NRG members who have not only presented projects of their own but have joined in to help in the H.D.V. and also with the tree planting initiative.

PROPOSAL TO ESTABLISH A CENTENNIAL FUND
Purpose:
Fund a gift to the community we have served and who have supported this club over the past 100 years.

Type of Gift
  • Maybe permanent sculpture
  • Scholarship of some kind
Value of Fund Target
  • Depends on the project
How would the fund be achieved
  • The Club could set aside $5,000 per year
  • A further $5,000 could be raised with a special fundraising event each year
  • With compounding interest over $100,000 would be available for a worthwhile gift.
$100,000 equates to $1,000 for each year our club has served the community.

Have a very merry Xmas and a happy New Year
