President Peter's Message
 
 
GUEST SPEAKER
Glenn Smith, the Salvation Army and alcohol counsellor spoke about the increased use of methamphetamine in South Canterbury. We heard heart-breaking stories of very young men and women becoming addicted and destroying families with users turning to crime to finance their habit which in some cases was reaching $1000 a day.
 
Glenn hinted at a new initiative he was planning and we wish him well. I have since spoken to Glenn and he would be very happy to come back and talk about his new initiative. He has one or two projects in mind and our club might well be able to assist.

Paul received a well-deserved Queen's Service Medal in this year's Queens Birthday Honours in recognition of his four decades of volunteer work in our community.
In the Timaru Herald on Monday he acknowledged it all began when he joined our Rotary club in 1980.

Congratulations to Trish (of NRG) & Dan On Their Marriage.
 
Trish and Dan tied the knot 19th May 2018 at Lissanoure Castle, Loughgeil, County Antrim, Northern Ireland. Daughters Ava and Niamh pictured with Mr and Mrs More.
They had a brilliant day an are enjoying their extended break over in the UK catching up with family and friends.

OUR GOAL IS TO HAVE EVERY CLUB'S PRESIDENT, PRESIDENT ELECT AND NOMINEE plus the person responsible for CLUB MEMBERSHIP and DEVELOPMENT as a minimum.
 
We are bringing MARK HUDDELSTONE the author of "CREATURES of HABIT" (a book about the membership issues facing Rotary Club's) from the Rotary Club of Seaford, in Adelaide. He is very much worth listening to!
